Quark Xpress 4.0
Quark 4 introduces many new features, but as is inevitable with any major software upgrade, it also introduces some bugs and incompatibilities, some of which affect our ability to work with early versions of Quark 4.0.Our Computer to Plate department uses ScenicSoft's Preps software to create imposed files for digital plate making. We have found some issues with Quark 4.0 Postscript output, which can result in imaging errors. Quark has fixed many of these problems with its 4.04 release, and we are currently accepting files from Quark 4.04 and higher.
It is important for customers to notify us that a job has been created with Quark 4 because special procedures must be used to correctly proof and image these documents. Without this notification, Quark 4.0 documents or Quark 4.0 Postscript may be put into the Quark 3.32 workflow, resulting in undesirable results.
Keeping Up with Changes
Quark has made patches and bug fixes for Quark 4.0 available on-line. These maintenance releases, and descriptions of the bugs that they fix, are available on Quark's web page.

Also, Quark has posted descriptions on their web page of known bugs that have not yet been fixed. In some cases, Quark has posted workarounds to these problems. Customers should become familiar with these issues, as some of the as-yet-unfixed bugs may directly impact their product.
